Review for Orphans Tree Inc, Colorado Springs, CO, USA
I've been around Christian ministries for 20 years, and this is one of the most innovate outreaches I've seen. Most orphan-care organizations are working in orphanages or through adoption, but Orphan's Tree serves the orphans in Russia who have aged out of orphanages and are left to fend for themselves as 15- or 16-year-olds who have never been taught how to function in society. By providing job training, life-skills coaching, and help with a myriad of practical needs—from parenting instruction to dental work to filling out housing paperwork—Orphan's Tree ministers holistically to some of the world's most overlooked individuals. The people of this ministry have found a practical, effective, and creative way to live out James 1:27. If you are looking for a way to care for "the orphan in distress," there is much bang for your buck to be found through Orphan's Tree.
