Review for Boston Partners in Education, Boston, MA, USA
I served as an Americorps*VISTA for Boston Partners from Aug. 2012-Aug. 2013, working as a Grants and Development Associate. I also volunteered in the organization's Math Rules! program at the Blackstone Elementary School, mentoring four fourth-grade students in math for an hour each week.
Boston Partners' success in serving nearly 4,000 Boston Public Schools students each year starts in the office, where an incredible group of people works tirelessly every day to make sure the programs run smoothly and effectively. That commitment to serve struggling students extends to the more than 700 volunteers who serve as academic mentors for Boston Partners each year.
While I enjoyed my year writing grant proposals and working on general fundraising projects for Boston Partners, the favorite part of my year was having the chance to volunteer at the Blackstone. Being able to see positive changes in the students you mentor, and knowing that you have at least a small part in those changes, is an incredible feeling. I would recommend Boston Partners' programs to anyone looking to volunteer and make a real difference in their community, in addition to donors looking to support a worthy cause.

Consider hiring more people. Though Boston Partners prides itself on its efficiency as a small organization, I think an investment in gradual expansion could further help it carry out its mission.
