Review for Habitat for Hope, Millington, TN, USA
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Habitat for Hope. I first became aware of this organization when my dear friend and mentor, Diane Smith, was interviewing to join the staff of HFH as the Volunteer Coordinator. I actually sat in on one of her initial meetings with HFH founders Mark and Mylissa Horrocks. HFH comes alongside families who travel to Memphis seeking medical treatment for a child. HFH has multiple ways they help families such as providing a free place to stay, groceries, and meals throughout the duration of treatment. However, what I love most about this organization is that the staff and volunteers establish genuine connections with families that helps them serve each family in very specific ways. For example, I happened to be in town when HFH decided to throw a graduation party at their property. This graduation party was not for a child in the hospital but for a sibling whose high school career had been defined in part by her brother's ongoing treatment. How cool is that? When Diane joined the staff, I started financially supporting HFH and have had a few opportunities to volunteer at major fundraising events. This is a fantastic organization that is dependent upon monetary donations. I know that the economy is tough and many families are struggling financially, but if you are looking for an organization to support I strongly encourage you to consider HFH.
