Review for Red Creek Wildlife Center Inc, Schuykl Havn, PA, USA
I found a baby squirrel on the ground barely moving and completely covered in fly eggs. I found some local numbers to call for help and didn't get a response from anyone. I then called a local animal emergency hospital. They gave me as much help as they could over the phone. I didn't know what to do for this poor little thing. I spent about an hour removing the fly eggs, then I took a picture of "Edwin" and put it on Facebook. I immediately got a response from someone telling me about Red Creek. I called immediately, left a message, and got a call back in 5-10 minutes. They asked if I could bring him in to the center now. It was around 7:30 on a Sunday evening. We are an hour away and got him there around 9:00pm. As soon as we arrived, someone took Edwin and immediately gave him fluids and put him in an incubator. While that was going on, another person was taking my info and she knew I was very upset. She took my hand and comforted me. She let me now that they would do everything they could for him. I just really wanted Edwin to be ok. They were honest with me and said his chances were not so good. I was given a case number and told I could call anytime and check on him. I called the next morning and he made it through the night. I called later that day and he was still doing ok. I called everyday for I think a week, and each time he was getting better. The last call I made I was told that Edwin was completely recovered and had been moved to be with other squirrels, and he should be released in November. :) I was so happy! Each time I called, the people I spoke with took their time with me, explained things to me. They never made me feel like I was bothering them. They all really truly care. I am so grateful for all the people at Red Creek. They are truly AMAZING!
