Review for Sanctuary for Senior Dogs, Cleveland, OH, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I learned about the Sanctuary for Senior Dogs in its earliest years and have been a fan ever since. This non-profit is focused on saving senior dogs that end up in Ohio shelters. Some of them are strays and others have had the misfortune of being relinquished by their families. Once accepted into the program, the dogs are provided excellent veterinary and emotional care, living out their lives in either a foster or permanent home. I have seen steady growth in this program over the years . Early on the appeal was small but mighty, however over the years, the group of senior dog devotees has grown beyond expectations. Through education, "dogged" determination and pure love for these dogs, the Sanctuary for Senior Dogs has become a much respected organization appealing to many. Their steady growth speaks volumes to the dedication of its Director and Board who have tirelessly promoted and encouraged compassionate care for senior dogs. Barb Stiebeling

I have been involved with the Sanctuary for Senior Dogs for over ten years...some years more active than others. What amazes me about this rescue is the dedication of so many people to improving the quality of life for senior dogs and the vision that they can do (just about) anything. Therapy dog training is not uncommon. Competitions at the annual summer fundraiser are a pleasure to watch. The dogs amaze. It is so heartwarming to see how "throw away" dogs thrive in good homes....and how much they have to give back. They are the best!

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

create an unlimited number of foster homes so that more senior dogs could be saved
