Review for Loudoun Free Clinic, Leesburg, VA, USA
What surprises me about the Loudoun Free Clinic is that the people that volunteer there are always so upbeat and friendly. This in spite of being tight on staff and materials. The patients are also appreciative and they will dig in a donate a few dollars here and there when they can.
When you see how people are helped by the clinic it makes you realize that any one of us could find ourselves in bad straights if hit with a medical dilemma. I am glad to be a part of the group who is trying to provide the safety net for those in dire need of a helping hand. No one should have to go without medical care when the means to a healthier life is available.
We also have doctors, dietitians, and other health care providers who service the specialty needs of our patients including an emphasis on health and wellness particularly with our "Meet Your Numbers" program for diabetics.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
I like the way the volunteer coordinator asks for regular "ways to improve" and how to make the volunteers positions work more efficiently in serving the patients. I would add more supplies to the pharmacy. We need basics; vials and safety caps, counting trays and spatulas, bags for the dispensed medication. I would also redo the drug dispensing area and make bins in which the bags could rest. This would make searching go faster and stop bags from falling on my head while entering orders. :)
