Review for National Coalition Against Prescription Drug Abuse Inc, San Ramon, CA, USA
I have served on the board for NCAPDA for 6 years. The operating budget far exceeds expectations for financial responsibility. The organization is run 100% on volunteerism and generous donations. The founder works 24/7 to bring education and awareness around the country and both on the local and federal level. In addition, the organization provides healing and support to loved ones whom have been devastated by the negative and dangerous impact of RX drug use. This organization collaborates with like-minded organizations in surrounding counties for the purpose of strengthening the outreach and impact of the mission.
Review for Teen Esteem, Danville, CA, USA
I support Teen Esteem and help them out where I can as a volunteer. I work for another non-profit that carries a similar message but only in the private school sector. I only say that because I feel it makes me qualified to review Teen Esteem. As an educator, I have to say that the speakers Teen Esteem has trained to deliver these extremely important messages are absolutely amazing. The speakers motivate students through their personal passions about the subject matter to make healthy choices for themselves through engaging them in energetic classroom conversations. The lessons learned in the Teen Esteem assemblies and classroom presentations are invaluable and thought provoking. These are lessons that challenge students to think about the choices they make today, and the possible impact of those decisions in the future. This is not a shock and awe moment that carries a impact for a day or two and is then forgotten. Teen Esteem charges students and parents to rise above the challenges that teens face today by equipping them with the knowledge necessary to create healthy communities.
More Feedback
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
If I had the power to bring them in to middles schools, I would. The Teen Esteem message is one that should be heard way before high school when unhealthy choices, damaging self image and esteem patterns, and cruel behavior has already occurred.
