Review for DePaul School for Hearing and Speech, Pittsburgh, PA, USA
Our four year old son attends DePaul School for Hearing and Speech in Pittsburgh. At birth, our son failed his newborn hearing screening. A few days later after more testing we found out that our son had profound hearing loss due to a genetic disorder called Waardenburg Syndrome. At eleven months, our son received a cochlear implant and at 15 months our son started at DePaul School in their toddler program. As a parent and educator, I can't say enough about this school. From the very moment that we toured the school we knew that this school was changing children's lives! At DePaul, the children learn Listen and Spoken language. Through intense therapy and speech services at DePaul, children are able to eventually transition into regular education programs in their own community. DePaul School for Hearing and Speech is one of the greatest nonprofits in this country! The faculty and staff work hard everyday to help children who are deaf learn to listen and speak! Our son is now in the preschool and just received his second implant. We are so grateful and blessed that our son has had such wonderful success and is now able to Listen and Speak.
