Review for Country Dance & Song Society Inc, Easthampton, MA, USA

Great organization run by dancers, for dancers. A treasure trove of historical information about American and English Country dance, CDSS is forward-looking, involving youth in dance and music. Fabulous summer camps are run by CDSS at various locations, inspiring new generations of dancers, musicians, and callers. Monies are allocated for workshops for member groups and scholarships for youth and needy individuals. CDSS continues to spread the joy and fascinating story of traditional dance.

My local dance group. CDSS helped us start our annual weekend-long dance, advancing us funds. We now have around 150+ people yearly, with a national band and caller.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

spread the joy of traditional music and dance to millions, with enough exposure so that people understand what contra dance is, the same way they understand what salsa, swing, and tango are: with participation and education for all!

Role:  General Member of the Public & My group is a local member of CDSS; they have helped us attain and maintain our 501(c)(3) status, so that we can have local dances and local dance education.
