Review for Tapestry Folkdance Center, Minneapolis, MN, USA

Rating: 5 stars

Tapestry Folkdance Center is a one-of-a-kind facility that brings together dancers and musicians from every genre. It's huge beautiful maple hardwood floors attract dancers from all over the area for swing dancing, contra dancing, international dancing and much more! Tapestry is alcohol-free and smoke-free and is run by dancers for dancers, counting on donations from people like you to keep it operating. I am a past president of the Board of Directors for Tapestry and am also an instructor and dancer. Please consider donating today!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

many roles. As a renter previously at the Sabathani Community Center to owners of their own building with beautiful dance spaces.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

keep things pretty much how they are within the limitations of the building. If I had the $10 mil , I would look for a new building that would allow for a better interior design, focusing on social areas in addition to the main focus, ample dance floor.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

The many, many, many interactions with the friendliest people you will find. I've made more friends at Tapestry than I can count!

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

The staff is extremely friendly and very easy to work with. They are very customer oriented and value consumer comments.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Pay off it's mortgage, create new programming, and upgrading the sound equipment. The programming would benefit musicians, instructors and dancers alike. They could also improve the facility to be non-dancer friendly, too.

Ways to make it better...

there was better seating within the hall.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

Funding and upgrading the sound equipment. Lack of funding limits the full potential of the excellent experience Tapestry strives to give each dancer and musician.

One thing I'd also say is that...

Tapestry is unique in the nation in that many styles of dance are represented and many groups of dancers have come together to make it possible to keep affordable dance space opportunities in the Twin Cities.

When was your last experience with this nonprofit?
