Review for VNA (Visiting Nurse Association of Texas), Dallas, TX, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I am a volunteer for the VNA Hospice, and it has been a great experience. The work that VNA does in all their programs, whether its 'meals on wheels' or 'hospice care' or anything else, is carried out with a great deal of competency and by people with big open hearts. I am always impressed by each and every person I meet there. VNA has a really good and extensive training program for its volunteers. I was very impressed by that. VNA takes very good care of their volunteers and treats them just like any other employee. Once I was assigned a patient to work with, I began to realize just how valuable the training was! Being a hospice volunteer is one of the most rewarding experiences I have had - to know that you have made a difference to someone's life and have been able to provide some comfort and friendship in the last stages of their life - It's something that is hard to put in words.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

being able to make a difference to someone's life. It just gives you so much happiness when the patient looks at you and smiles, when they tell you they look forward to your visits......The sort of trust VNA places on their volunteers is quite amazing!

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

the best! Everyone I met was genuinely nice and good people. Each person is so committed to the cause of VNA - it has been a rather humbling experience to work with these people.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

help so many more people. VNA does a lot with the money they have, but they could do so much more! They could hire more doctors, nurses, home health aids, provide additional families with meals and a better life!

How frequently have you been involved with the organization?

About every week
