Review for Junior Achievement of New York, New York, NY, USA
Junior Achievement of New York (JANY) has played a significant role in helping the high school where I was coordinator to fulfill its mission to prepare students for college and career. Its financial education programs are unparalleled; they use real-world scenarios to engage students and enable them to see the consequences of their financial decisions. They also help students to recognize the importance of education and a career if they are to earn a salary that will enable them to have a desirable life style.
The job shadows that JANY has facilitated to some of the nation’s leading companies, like Cadwalader, AT&T, Deloitte, K& L Gates, and PWC have broadened students’ awareness of possible career options while teaching them professionalism and networking skills.
Only last week, JANY arranged a job shadow at Cadwalader for 50 students from the middle school where I now teach. It was the students' first ever job shadow and they were amazed by the location, right next to the Freedom Tower. The warm reception they received from the staff made them feel at ease, and the inspiring, practical advice they received from the presenters motivated them. They especially enjoyed the working lunch and the Junior Achievement activity that allowed them to work with lawyers in small groups. JANY tranforms lives and inspires greatness!
