I came to the Homeplace shelter with nothing and nowhere to go, they took me in and helped me to see a different me, I met Jesus, I got a job, saved some money, and got an apartment and am no longer homeless and destitute, now I volunteer at the homeplace Shelter to give back and to encorage others that they too can make it out of the hell we find ourselves in sometimes in this life. Praise God and the staff at the Homeplace Shelter.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

helping me to develop a relationship with Jesus and myself.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

set up more beds to help more people.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

seeing people end their homeless situation

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

committed staff, loving and compasionate people.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

help more people end homelessness

Ways to make it better...

if I had went to the shelter when I first became homeless, and not had to wait for an opening, and if their was more funding available for shelters.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

not enough beds, staff, and money to support there vision.

One thing I'd also say is that...

thank you staff and volunteers at the Homeplace Shelter.

Review for The HomePlace Shelter Inc., Thomasville, GA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I became homeless in 1989, and after that traumatic experience with very little help from community organizations, my wife & I opened the first and only homeless shelter for men & veterans in rural Thomasville Ga. offering an array of housing and supportive services, that ends a persons homelessness, unlike Metropolitan homeless shelters we do not have check in @6pm and a check out @ 6am rule. A homeless man comes to our shelter and begins in short-term shelter stay to long-term until they have secured permanent affordable housing.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

Participating in the overall case planning and supportive services and watching a homeless person end their homelessness by securing income and permanent affordable housing.
