I am an attorney with Long Island Advocacy Center and had the great pleasure of learning about i-tri at our Annual Conference on October 11, 2013. Theresa Roden and her girls presented at our conference and were so inspirational. In my work at LIAC I speak to students and their families who are struggling to stay in school and graduate. As I learned at our conference, i-tri is an organization that is uniquely supporting at risk girls in an important and caring way. I realized that there are too few opportunities for young women to learn the skills they need to be resilient and confident when faced with obstacles and that without those skills they are at risk for failures at school and at life. I-try gives girls a safe a supportive place to learn that they are valued and capable. The supportive community created by these girls was evident in their presentation. They are becoming capable, strong, beautiful women! I hope that this programs grows so that all girls have the opportunity to participate in such a fantastic program.
