COJECO assisted our organization Congregation Tifereth Israel to buy tfillins, prayer-books, computer, camera, also COJECO funded Jewish Holiday concerts, concert dresses for teenagers, preparation our boys to Bar-mitzvah. COJECO invited us to other Jewish organizations of New York and always keeps us informed posted about community life. Congregation Tifereth ISrael was erected in 1911; it's one of the eldest active synagogues in Queens, and it has a few historical titles. 1) In May 1999 it was the first synagogue with a status The Queens Historical Society's Queensmark. 2) In November 2002 Congregation Tifereth Israel was entered the list of The New York State and National Registers of Historic places. 3) Last ear it had New York City landmark status. In two last cases we received recommendation letters from COJECO as well as oral recommendation in hearing in the Court for New York City landmark status. COJECO recommended Congregation Tifereth Israel to state and city for a grant in amount $200,000.00. (Posted by a GreatNonprofits staff member from a paper review form.)
