Review for Loudoun Free Clinic, Leesburg, VA, USA
I LOVE volunteering at the Loudoun Free Clinic. I love working with this team of generous, compassionate individuals, many of them volunteers too, serving a large population of low-income, uninsured individuals (over 1,200 patients in 2012). Most of all, I love working with the patients. As a volunteer interpreter, I get to meet them and hear a bit of their stories. It's a humbling, deeply touching, and rewarding experience. As a side personal benefit, I get to learn about medicine!

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
I think the clinic needs more volunteer pharmacists, or if they had more funds, the clinic could maybe hire a part-time pharmacist. Other services (e.g., chiropractor, acupuncture) could be offered more often if there were more volunteer or staff providers. I've noticed quite a few patients are struggling with ongoing pain.
