Review for First Christian Church, Grand Jct, CO, USA
The First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Grand Junction is a Christian church located off of 1st street, beside Sherwood Park, that is made up mostly of older adults. They welcome all people, but they are not ashamed of who they are as they try to reach out to adults 50 + in an effort to help this group of people feel valued and loved. They have two worship services each week (at around 8:45 AM and 10:45 AM). The pastor's messages are aimed at helping people understand how to live into the love that God offered us through the life and death of Jesus Christ. They have plentiful Bible Studies. Right now the pastor is leading a Bible study where he is taking 1 month on each book of the Old Testament. The congregation does a lot of outreach projects......everything from serving at Homeward Bound once a month, to serving a Thanksgiving Day meal to people who do not have another place to eat on Thanksgiving Day, to hosting work days at Grandview Apartments. All this is not to say it's a perfect place........for it is made up of humans! However, I have found a sincerity of worship there that leads people to look beyond themselves......to the greater needs of the world. Let your light shine! Love will win!

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
I would continue to help this organization understand its potential. Some church's have gotten too bogged down in entertaining and I fear that there are those here who want to entertain because they think that "gets" the people. Don't fall into this trap. Stay true to who you are. Age gracefully and others will flock to your wisdom as you demonstrate the love of Christ.
