Life Unlimited of Virginia runs Rikki's Refuge Animal Sanctuary in Virginia. For over 20 years the sanctuary has taken in every kind of animal you can think of - and provided a safe, life-long home for literally thousands of animals. From the emu babies who were hatched as a "school project" without a plan for them once they were born to the senior animals who were abandoned by families when started developing old age issues, Rikki's Refuge was there for them. The dedicated staff at the sanctuary keep the animals safe and healthy and the place is clean and well-run. Volunteers can work on a variety of projects and tours are available - at least once COVID ends. 5 Stars all day long.

Project Perry is a wonderful sanctuary for birds -- from parakeets to McCaws. My sister needed to find a home for a parkeet family of five. She was able to get them in to Project Perry. When we went to deliver the birds we found the sanctuary to be well cared for. The birds had large indoor/outdoor aviaries, everything was clean, plenty of food and water. The smaller birds got their own enclosure. There is plenty of mental stimulation for the birds. It's an amazing place and I'm glad it exists.
