Melabev is a non profit organization providing daycare centers and outreach services to help older people with dementia and support to their families. My Mother was diagnosed with dementia 10 years ago and began attending our local Melabev Center 5 years ago when she could no longer plan her own daily activities at home. Melabev gave her a reason to get up in the morning and a group of like minded friends and helpers who accepted her for who she is now. They validate her contributions and provide a structure to her day with laughter, familier traditions a good lunch and some respite for her family and carers. With Melabev's help we have been able to care for Mother throughout all the difficulties that demetia brings and she is still living in her own home. My family and I are convinced that without the expert support and warm welcome Mother gets 5 times a week we would not have been able to look after her at home. Dr. Benjamin I. Czaczkes
