Melabev Beit Shemesh has helped me to adjust to life in Israel by introducing me to many wonderful people of varied backgrounds. Israel is truly a crossroad, with different cultures, and it seems to me that each person, when taken individually, has their own personal story. The most fascinating point, I find, is just finding out why they are here. I myself still cannot understand all of the reasons why I left Florida. I was not in the least a religious person in America, but yet I have been able to adjust to a religious way of life. Returning to Israel in itself makes me feel closer to my late husband, who was born and lived the first 20 years of his life in Tel Aviv. The many activities here, i.e. the art, the music, the yoga, the ulpan, the parsha, the baking, and general discussion, (not to forget our scrabble games), are really of secondary interest to me. The main thing is the many friendships I have made here with many wonderful people as well as staff members and volunteers. For this I am grateful to Hashem.
