Review for American Committee For Melabev Inc, N Hollywood, CA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

Melabev for my mother and us was more than just the four mornings she attended. We were once walking through the mall in Modiin when someone came running over to greet my mother. My mother sat regally in her wheelchair with a big smile. I am not sure she recognized who it was but the Melabev volunteer took the time to greet my mother and make her happy. My mother's apartment was decorated with arts and crafts she did at Melabev. She was proud of her accomplishments and would explain to us how she did it. As well as being proud of her work, it gave us ideas of what she could do at home. Melabev gave her a chance to learn new thing, to be active, and to interact with others and to share her life's experiences. The staff of Melabev encouraged her to talk about her life and to express herself. Melabev welcomed family and friends to come visit my mother in Beit Shemesh. My mother was always so proud to show off her children , grandchildren, and great grandchildren who came to visit. Melabev wasn't just a place for my mother to go and be occupied but the staff kept in touch with us letting us know how she was doing and if they noticed her withdrawing meaning maybe she needed a physical check up or her hearing or eyesight should be checked. They offered us a support group facilitated by an experienced professional, Rabbi Wolicki, and with a staff person in attendance. We were able to contact them at other times and discuss concerns. We greatly appreciate Beit Shemesh Melabev, the director, Shoshana Lichtman, her staff, and the volunteers for all they did for my mother, Molly Andelman, z"l, for the last two years of her life. I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Beit Shemesh

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

get them their own facility.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

The caring of the professional staff and volunteers

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

wonderful and caring.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Serve more people in their own facility.

Ways to make it better...

I lived closer and had easier access to the center.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

working in a shared facility.

One thing I'd also say is that...

May they have the strength and financial means to continue.

How frequently have you been involved with the organization?

About every month

When was your last experience with this nonprofit?

2009
