With our public schools constantly struggling with budget cuts, this organization has been key to ensuring that all students in the Redwood City School District have access to programs that would otherwise be eliminated. For example, district-wide music education and instrumental instruction has been saved because of funding from the RCEF. The foundation ensures that music is provided to 1st-5th grades with Kinder to be added in the near future. Instrumental music is offered for grades 6-8, preparing middle schoolers for high school Marching Band, Concert Band, Jazz Band and String Orchestra. This year, through RCEF Smart grants, all district schools will have access for technology funding for hardware(iPads, Chrome Books), training and educational apps. Members on this all volunteer board work tirelessly for bettering educational opportunities in this very diverse and challenging district, and for them, we are grateful.
