Review for Arizona Humane Society, Phoenix, AZ, USA

Rating: 5 stars

My husband and I have adopted 3 dogs in the past from the Humane Society. They were always so helpful and pleasant to deal with that a little over a year ago we decided to sign up and volunteer. We are both animal lovers and have learned so much from working there. Of course during our time as a volunteer we came across another dog to adopt as a member of our family. The adoption process has always been so easy for us, but while working there I realize how committed these full-time employees are by not adopting out an animal just because there was someone interested in adopting. They unfortunately have to make the tough decision to turn someone away in the safety and interest of the animal being adopted. I'm sure this kills them knowing how many they get on a daily basis, but it just comes down to the real dedication these people have in making an animal's life a happy tail.

As I stated earlier, it's been a fun experience in both working in the AZ Humane Society and also as an adoptive dog parent. I just wish we could do this full-time but we both have full-time jobs.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

I would have more adoption events in the community and educational events to the public to promote the adoptions & spaying/neutering and treating animals with compassion. Also, have an advertisement spot on Facebook and feature an animal every day. If I ever won the lottery I would like to build more kennels and make the facility a better place for the animals at the Sunnyslope facility.
