2012 was a very challenging year for me and my family, we had seen my symptoms progress more so than most years, and when my wife heard about K9s For Warriors, she had urged me to sign-up. I said, i'd think about because I didn't think my PTSd was all that bad. I put in my application mid-year 2012 and went through the interview process, not really knowing what I was getting myself into. The trainer- Brett called me and offered me a slot in April of 2013, I accepted, thinking that I may just back out. In August of last year, I hit another rock bottom in my life, having started my own business and an organization to assist other veterans dealing with hardships involving PTSd, was too much to handle on top of raising three boys and my wife going to nursing school. In October, I was contacted by Brett to see if I could make it out for the next class that started in a few days, and I knew it was the right time. I drove over 900 miles from Texas to Florida to start my life over and actually get the help I needed and deserved. I received Ozzy, my SD almost a year ago. Having Ozzy, as well as K9s training and support has transformed my life and that of my service animal. Since November, we have been able to get out and do more together and now that I have learned, not only from training but doing, we have conquered many goals together. We are currently slated to run the Houston Marathon in January, if our health, especially Ozzy, is great. Mom, and K9s for Warriors helped me beat my PTSd to enjoy my family and my life again. As of this morning, in writing this review, my psychologist at the VA moved my plan from Treatment of my PTSd to Recovery and no longer needing medications or assistance with my battle of PTSd. Thank you K9s For Warriors for making this possible!
