Review for Beauty's Haven Farm and Equine Rescue, Inc., Morriston, FL, USA

Rating: 5 stars

Beauty's Haven is a great horse rescue. Caring. Dedicated, hard working. That describes the owners/president and also the volunteers. 100% of your donation goes to the horses, minis and donkeys. You never have to worry about donating your hard earned money if you choose this rescue!

I have been following this rescue since late 2012. It was just after the Sandy Hook shootings, and all of a sudden up popped a picture of the most starved horse I think could have ever stood on 4 feet. Theresa named him Solace, and he was truly a miracle. Theresa Batchelor and the volunteer staff nursed him back to health. It was amazing to watch. I volunteered at BHFER in March of 2013, because it is important that I know where my donated money is being used. Theresa proved to be an open book about the rescue. She explained how some decisions are made, where the money is spent, the different needs of the horses. I went back and volunteered again in March 2014. I am not able to visit right now, due to health issues, but I have no doubt that any money that I donate is well spent, and spent on the horses and donkeys. Also, because BHFER does not buy from kill pens, there is no "bail" to be paid to save an animal. They are signed over to the rescue. BHFER is also helpful with "seized" animals that have been abused or neglected and starved.
There are many respectable rescues out there. But I believe there is no one more dedicated than Theresa and Bob. The picture is Genesis, a draft horse that had just had his eye removed. He greeted me at the door!

I traveled to Beauty's Haven to check out the operation for myself because I can't afford to donate money to an organization that isn't what it claims. I quickly learned that Theresa cares deeply for all the animals. And she has assembled a top quality team of experts to care for them. The volunteers love helping at the farm. I was so impressed that I went back the next year too. If you are able to donate, please don't hesitate to include Beauty's Haven Farm and Equine Rescue. Your money will go directly to the care of the horses.

Beauty's Haven is exactly what the name implies. A haven for horses that are neglected, starved, abused or simply unwanted. In order to feel comfortable donating, I traveled there and volunteered for 3 days in March 2013. I was amazed by the caring and professional atmosphere. Theresa and Bob and the volunteers care about the horses. I think it was the best 3 days of my year! It is not a "rescue" that just fattens up a thin horse, calls it "rescued" and then sells it to whoever has money. These horses receive the best care and if possible, are adopted, not sold. They require a contract stating the horse will come back if the adopter can no longer care for it. I went back for 3 days in March 2014 because I enjoyed it so much. The donations are spent on the horses, and you can designate where you want your money to be used if you want to! This is a 1st class operation. Theresa does daily updates with pictures on Facebook so there is daily contact with the public. Don't ever be afraid to donate to this rescue.

I drove 7 hours to volunteer for 3 days at Beauty's Haven Rescue. I don't have money to throw away. When I left I was convinced that there is not another rescue organization that deserves the help and support more than Beauty's Haven. Theresa Batchelor is as caring and devoted as anyone can possible be when taking care of these animals. You would never know that she has health issues of her own. When it comes to the horses, her issues are pushed aside, and the horse comes first. What a wonderful organization the owners and volunteers have created.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Move it closer to me so I could volunteer on a regular basis.
