Review for Seafarers House Inc, Port Everglades, FL, USA
I became familiar with the Seafarers' House of Port Everglades about five years ago when another organization I belong to (WISTA - Women's International Shipping & Transportation Association) understood the significance of sustainability and recognized the need to add depth to our social component. We searched for a non-profit organization to which we could add value and the SFH of PEV was an obvious choice. Little did we know that as our mutual volunteer efforts began, it was the Seafarers' House which provided the depth we were seeking. - - - Having grown up in the marine industry, but always working ashore, it is SO VERY IMPORTANT for all of us to remember the crew onboard each and every ship. The sacrifice they make and that of their families is what drives world trade - yet this is not well understood. - - - We have all heard of "unsung heros". Well I can attest to the Seafarers' House being amongst those heros and I for one would love to hear their praises sang!
