Review for Modest Needs Foundation, New York, NY, USA

Rating: 4 stars

A friend I met at the Ramsey County Library in Minnesota was crying about getting an eviction warning. I had to move some of her personal items to reduce the clutter in her apartment so that her wheel chair could move freely. Unfortunately, I have a old car that has 6 or so maintenance issues, such as speedometer broken, radiator cooling fan is partially working, the brakes have gotten corroded, the power steering lines have also corroded and no longer give full power steering, eletrical line off the battery has corroded, the alternator failed completely and would need a new belt with alternator replaced. I was able to get a check for $185.xx from ModestNeeds.org to at least help get the cost of a remanufacted altenator replacement at Tires Plus, Roseville, MN. I paid for the the labor portion of the cost of $110 (minus the $30 coupon I had). I also paid for the alternator belt replacement($110). I also had to buy AAA Roadside Assistance $54.99 to get it towed. I am now completely broke for the rest of the month and will need eat at the Dorothy Day Center in Saint Paul, MN for the next 3 weeks. But good news is my friend is not going to be homeless anymore.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

I had no problems getting help from ModestNeeds.Org. I guess the only thing would be getting the check a little faster than 30 days after approval. But I am sure there was a good reason for the small delay.
