"I think that the United States Veterans Initiative is a very good program which service the needs of all veterans"!
There are some members of staff however, and especially the workforce that are not very effective when it comes to keeping current with DOL policy and procedures.
For example:
Under VEVRAA of 1974, there are laws requiring federal contractors and subcontractors to affirmatively recruit, hire, train and promote qualified people with disabilities and veterans.
In my opinion workforce is not fully assessing the rules and requirements under Section 503 of this Act.
As a member of labor within workforce it should be their responsibility to utilize every available resource to assist veterans in getting a job.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
Provide proper and aggressive training to those staff members at Workforce in approaching and implementing the rules and requirements under Section 503. 1) How to identify which companies are affected. 2) What steps to take to ensure that qualified veterans are informed. 3) Establish the criteria for hiring veterans, etc
