Review for ECAD, Educated Canines Assisting with Disabilities, Torrington, CT, USA

Rating: 5 stars

ECAD is a seriously run business with a heart of gold mission. Over the past 18 years the organization has grown consistently and is now a leader in the Service Dog industry. As they enter the next generation of their existence, ECAD is building a state-of-the art Canine Education Facility to double their production of expertly trained Service Dogs. I recommend them highly to any serious philanthropist.

Review for Friends of Ofanim, Wynnewood, PA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I met Haim Dahan, the founder, and became enthralled with the organization. My firm helped set up Friends of Ofanim in the US, and has helped introduce people to this cause since its beginning. By helping children in the poorest areas of Israel get supplemental education, Ofanim gives them the same opportunities that are available in the big cities to children with much greater resources. And we do it at a very low cost per child. Ofanim makes a huge difference in Israel!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Israel in a village in the deep Negev, near Gaza. I mete the students, and saw them learning on the buses. They literally ran to great the bus when it pulled into their small schoolyard. They were extremely happy!

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Nothing needs to be changed except the ability to raise more money.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

Nearly all of the money goes to creating buses and keeping them in operation. The organization uses students at nearby universities to teach on the buses, thus helping them learn how to give back as well.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Extraordinary. All very committed, and all working for very little money to help these children learn.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Educate every poor child in Israel and give them opportunities that they could never have imagined.

Ways to make it better...

My experience couldn't have been better, unless I was actually living in Israel and working directly with these children.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

Raising enough money to reach all of the children in the poorest parts of Israel. the only limit to their success is the ability to raise money in the US and Israel, and other parts of the wrold.

How frequently have you been involved with the organization?

About every week
