Review for Unitus Inc, Seattle, WA, USA
I have been involved with and financially supporting Unitus for 4 years. I choose to volunteer my time and give money to them because they have one of the most innovative approaches to reducing extreme poverty that I have ever come across. They seek out and invest in early stage entrepreneurs building the next generation of microfinance services (providing financial services to people living on < $2/day). In just 5 years, their influence has transformed financial services in India impacting 8M families and significantly more through demonstration effect. Unitus hires predominantly from the private sector creating a very high performance team and culture focused on dramatically reducing global poverty.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
India where they work with 14 high-growth microfinance institutions (MFIs) which are growing their reach to poor families by more than 100% per year.
What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...
working with Unitus staff and visiting with MFI partner staff and microfinance clients in India and other countries.
The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...
passionate, intelligent, creative, committed and ready to sacrifice in order to give poor families the opportunity to sustainably step out of extreme poverty.
If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...
replicate their transformative model in other regions including countries in Asia, China and Africa.
