Review for Children's Global Alliance, Vail, CO, USA
It has always been a desire of mine to travel the world and help others. When the opportunity to volunteer as a chaperone for Children's Global Alliance appeared, I jumped at the chance. At first I was intimidated by the program's strict layout, but the further into the process I immersed myself, the more I realized there was a reason for everything. Traveling to a foreign country with teenagers is not an easy feat and I feared how both they and I would handle the situation. I have never fallen into a role so easily and felt so comfortable so far out of my comfort zone. CGA really helped me to find a new part of myself, as well as transform the lives of every student volunteer who took part. I was so proud of the growth these kids achieved by the end of 3 short weeks, I felt like a proud parent. Not a single person involved, whether by donating, volunteering or being helped, was left untouched by this process. Every day at work, all I can talk about is my 3 weeks in Cambodia with 9 amazing teenagers from Vail and the extraordinary people we encountered there.
