Review for Project Angkor, Irvine, CA, USA
It was an honor to be part of the Medical Mission team in 2011 as a pre-nursing student. That year, Project Angkor was able to provide free medical, dental services and medications in the underserved community in Cambodia. Just imagine the signaficance this organization is able to make from their annual missions!
My contribution in that particular mission may have been minimal, but that is exactly the kind of support Project Angkor needs in order to build a team that can make a difference. On the other hand, I gained so much from this experience toward my personal and professinal growth. As a pre-nursing student, I was very inspired by the passion and professionalism the medical and axillary volunteers had toward the humanitarian cause. Now, I am a nurse in the Air Force, hoping to shadow the same values these individuals had by utilizing their professional expertise, time, and money in order to improve the quality of life of the less fortunates. I am planning to participate in Project Angkor's medical mission again in the near future. Why? Because the individuals in this organization truly have the heart to give. And needless to say, the culture, history, and food in Cambodia will make you want to go back for the second time.
