Review for Medical Missions For Children, Inc. aka MMFC, Woburn, MA, USA
I volunteered with MMFC as an administrator and translator in their June Guatemala 2013 mission. From the moment we arrived I was impressed with their organization and efficiency. The minute we got there the nurses when straight to the "hospital" to stock all the suplies needed. The sinergy between the Mmfc team and the local staff was seamless. The support the local staff gave mmfc was instrumental in the success of the mission. In return the Mmfc doctors and nurses were very grateful and equally supportive of the local staff training them during the surgeries. The whole process was very effective.
Although the MMFC team came from different places around the world NY, LA, Boston, London, San Francisco everyone knew their job and worked tirelessly to help as many children as possible.
It was beautiful to see how sweet, compassionate and caring the whole MMFC team was with the children and their families.
The work MMFC does is life changing for the children with cleft lips and palates and their families. As the translator I got to hear over and over again how grateful they were to the Mmfc team. As one father put it when he came to the recovery room to hold his child after the surgery "I don't have any money to pay you but I know God is watching and he will reward you". Of course we were all in tears... SZ
