Review for Friends of the Arava Institute, Boston, MA, USA

Rating: 4 stars

My experience as a student at the Arava Institute last fall is truly indescribable. The interactions, conversations, courses, and friendships completely altered my vision of the world. I have never felt so many complex emotions in my life, let alone have the opportunity to discuss them and unwrap them with a group of devoted and caring individuals working at AIES. My experience has inspired me to continue interfaith, peace and environmental work in my own locale, and not to judge a country or situation until I have truly heard the many voices involved.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

move the location to somewhere more supportive and inspiring.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

the incredible amount of knowledge I gained about the complexities of the Israel-Palestine conflict.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

devoted individuals from around the world with the joint purpose of promoting peace and environmentalism in the Middle East.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

support many more low-income students from around the world to come and study and experience the AIES program.

Ways to make it better...

it had been a part of a different kibbutz.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

the difficult concepts it promotes.

How frequently have you been involved with the organization?

One time

When was your last experience with this nonprofit?

2009

Role:  Client Served & I was a student completing a semester of my undergraduate degree in Environmental Studies.
