Review for Taiwanese American Citizens League, Rosemead, CA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I have been involved with TACL as a board member of TAP-NY. My experience has been rich, fulfilling, and fun. There several facets of my experience that I'd like to highlight:

Joining TAP-NY gave me a friendly and fun community when I moved to New York City. Like many people, it took a lot of time for me to become comfortable in a new environment, especially one that moves as quickly and is as big as NYC. TAP-NY helped to ease this transition by providing a platform for fun events, opportunities to meet people, and opportunities to give back to the community.

TAP-NY has also provided me with a wonderful network of like-minded people around the country. There are several chapters of TAP that are all affiliated with each other, and communication between chapters, whether it be through Facebook or in-person, is a great way to make new friends and learn about what it's like to live in another part of the country.

Because TAP-NY has such a diverse membership, I've learned a lot about different careers and life in general through my involvement. Through both structured professional/networking events, as well as more informal dinners, I've had the chance to meet accomplished and interesting people that have provided new perspectives on life in general.

Finally, TAP-NY has helped me learn more about myself and the skills I want to develop. As a board member, skills like collaboration, management, and teamwork are essential, and actually having to execute with these skills has been a positive experience as I look to grow myself.
