Review for Shining Light Community Development Organization, Gilgit, , Pakistan
When I support a not-for-profit organization, I want to know that my time and funds are being used responsibly to make a tangible difference to people in need. We hear it in the news everyday that there are overwhelming needs in rural Pakistan. And I've seen firsthand the incredible positive impact that Shining Light Community Development Organization (SLCDO) projects are having in the lives of children and families in the Northern Areas of Pakistan. And these aren't just "aid" projects ... these are programs that are equipping entire families to move from poverty to prosperity. This is a movement and an NGO worth supporting!

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...
that it's doing the work that other organizations can't or aren't able to do. Through an incredible network of local volunteers, the SLCDO is able to partner with the most remote communities where the needs are particularly great.
The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...
passionately committed to the vision of the organization. It seems that this passion stems from, in large part, the fact that volunteers can see how important the work of the SLCDO is.
If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...
bring hope and light to communities throughout the Northern Areas of Pakistan. From urgently needed teacher training and materials to a first-of-its-kind manufacturing centre where women can safely be employed, the needs and opportunities are great.
Ways to make it better...
my family and friends could have been with me to see firsthand how the work of the SLCDO is influencing families in life-changing ways. Words just aren't enough. You have to SEE what the work of this little NGO means to communities in northern Pakistan.
In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...
the need for funds and volunteers.
