Review for Square Peg Foundation, Half Moon Bay, CA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

My 13 year old son takes riding here & we love it! The Square Peg folks are friendly, caring and careful. The most wonderfully unique thing about Square Peg is that it is all inclusive - so regardless of the needs of a child, all are welcome and included and feel important here. Both of my kids (one with disabilities & one without) adore Square Peg, are challenged, comfortable, and learn new things every time. A true gem!

Review for FOUNDATION FOR HEARING RESEARCH INC, Redwood City, CA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

In 1999 my son was born deaf - we knew nothing about how to begin this journey. From infancy to age 4 we attended a school in Redwood City called JWPSOD (Jean Weingarten Peninsula Oral School for the Deaf) - this educational foundation has been nothing short of a miracle for our family. Our son is now 9, has 2 cochlear implants that enable him to hear, speak perfectly & read up a storm, play piano beautifully, sing (not so well), talk on the cell phone, and hear a whisper - sometimes he just doesn't know when to be quiet :-)

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

how they taught our family to be involved in our child's education.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

incredibly smart and dedicated, creative, caring, and patient.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

serve more children and families who have the greatest needs, particularly families with additional challenges, such as more than 1 child who is deaf, a child who is deaf with additional disabilities, a family who earns a lower-than-average income, or doesn't speak English as a first language.
