I first encountered this organization when I downloaded John's book, "Look at Yourself". I was facing a time of great personal challenge following a surgery that included many nights during the recovery period where sleep was elusive. I learned about a concept that is so simple and yet so profound that it truly changed my life. Like other concepts so simple that we humans just die trying to make them harder (e.g., love), I have had to "unlearn" a great deal of the programming I had received over my lifetime, but when I am successful at practicing the "Just One Look" philosophy, my life changes instantly. Some time into my study of this practice, I came across a photo of myself as a perfectly cleaned and groomed and apparently quite happy child of probably eight years old or so. Since one of the core elements of Just One Look is based in the understanding that I AM still that person, despite all the highs and lows that life has thrown my way in the MANY intervening years, I had that photo laminated and carry it with me wherever I go. At any given moment, I might go looking for it to center me, or I might just come across it in my wallet, but whenever I see it, I am instantly transported to the inward look that has changed my life, and can change others as well.
