Review for SAFE CROSSINGS FOUNDATION, Seattle, WA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

This great organization provides free grief services for children and serves as a leader in grief services for King County. The services it funds are truly transformative in children's lives. Research shows that children who receive adequate support after the death of a parent have lower rates of suicide, drug abuse and depression later in life. The organization is well run and is doing important work. I have been impressed by the passion of Safe Crossings' volunteers and staff and moved by the testimonials of families who have received services.

Review for SAFE CROSSINGS FOUNDATION, Seattle, WA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

Safe Crossings Foundation is a leader in funding free grief services for children in King County. These services include in home counseling for grieving families, community support and ongoing therapeutic follow up. Safe Crossings also provides funds for Camp Erin which is a free summer camp for children who have lost a loved one. The camp is truly transformative as kids get a chance to meet other kids going through similar experiences. It is run by trained therapists with the help of many, many volunteers. The feedback we get from families is that it is life changing for many of the kids.

The Board is energetic and involved, the staff leadership is strong and experienced and the mission includes bringing together other grief support organizations in the area to facilitate comprehensive community services.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Continue to expand its reach.

Review for Proyecto Itzaes, Palo Alto, CA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I have been watching this organization from afar and am impressed by its mission and dedication of its volunteers. By providing books and education, they stand to have a much greater impact than other similar projects providing direct services. I think this organization deserves a closer look and would love to work with them in the future.
