Review for SOROPTIMIST INTERNATIONAL OF THE AMERICAS, Philadelphia, PA, USA
Soroptimist International of the Americas is the parent organization for Soroptimist Clubs in the US, Canada, Mexico, South America, Japan, Korea, Tiawan and the Phillipines. Each Club serves women and girls in their local and global communities through programs leading to social and economic empowerment. Their signature project is the Live Your Dream campaign, which among other things provides monetary awards to single female heads of households returning to school to improve their skills and their chances of more financially meaningful employment.
All organization and administrative expenses are paid through membership dues. All donations go toward service projects such as "The Live Dream Award" and Club grants to support local club projects.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
Right now I can't think of any way I would change them other than to make them better known in the world. the organization is made up of women members who volunteer their time to help women and girls in their community. the strong organizational skills of our Federation keeps us focused and motivated to continue our service.

Review for Crown Jewel Club, El Segundo, CA, USA
Crown Jewel Club is in so many ways such a simple program. A bunch of really neat caring people coming together to brighten and enhance the lives of 5th grade at-risk girls. Their methods seem so obvious to those of us who came from a more middle class background. Imagine a group of young girls getting so much out of a lesson on meeting new people, or how to set a table and use a knife & fork, or how to dream and make good choices not based on now, but on what you want for yourself in the future.
That is what Crown Jewel Club does and until you have experienced it for yourself, in the classroom, you can't imagine the difference it makes in their lives.
I'm so happy to say I have never regretted supporting this group financially or with my time, and believe me, when I was first told about CJC I didn't understand how at-risk girls could benefit from "a tea!" it is so much more than a tea!
