Review for International Folk Art Alliance, Santa Fe, NM, USA
The IFAA is an organization with a compelling mission that is also great fun. We attended the market as customers of the many skillful international artists in 2012 and were so impressed that we volunteered to help out in 2013 and be team co-chairs in 2014. The hook for us is the great good that the alliance does in encouraging and supporting artists and their communities, its impact on fostering global relationships and the just plain fun of shopping and interacting with the artists. If you haven't been to the market, come on down to Santa Fe in July 2015!
Review for Healing Hands Ministries Inc, Dallas, TX, USA
My children grew up in our neighborhood public schools and through that experience our family witnessed the challenges of many of their classmates' families to secure food, clothing, and a place to live. Medical care takes a back seat to these basic needs. To help children and adults who are unable to afford both preventive and critical health care, Healing Hands Ministries was created through the vision of a former school nurse in our community and many supportive volunteers. Now our neighbors can see a doctor or a dentist for an amount they can afford and by driving or walking only a mile or two from home. Healing Hands makes me proud to be a part of the Lake Highlands community!
