My husband and I have been volunteering with MMI for almost 25 years. We lead a team every year to Las Matas de Farfan, Dominican Republic which is about 4 hours from the capitol city. Our team provides excellent surgical, medical and dental care to those who do not have access to this care. Each patient seen also receives spiritual care and health education. Our volunteers are compassionate medical personal and loving non medical people. There are many, many stories of how the lives of our patients are changed but also how participants lives have been changed. A MMI mission trip is a great way to expose a teenager to how the rest of the world lives. One participant has brought over 10 members of her family at different times to experience a mission trip in a third world country. We started with MMI so we could bring our college age children on a mission trip and thru the years our son has returned with us as a medical student, surgical resident and a surgeon. And the great thrill was to have our daughter come back brining her teenage son. What a great family legacy to share this experience with members of your family.

We just completed our 22 short term mission trip to the Dominican Republic with Medical Ministry International . After our first trip with our college children we became mission addicts and the mission trip is always the highlight of our year. Our teams are made up of wonderful medical and non medical people who have compassionate hearts and want to serve the needy of the Dominican Republic. The MMI Dominican Project Staff are organized and have all the arrangements made so that we can spend our time serving on the surgical or the medical/dental team. There is an incredible amount of work done while we are in the Dominican Republic for two weeks and we always feel like God is the source of our strength to do so much. I always tell first timers that you go to serve but you are the one who is blessed. This is a great group to go with and take your teenagers so that they see what it is like to serve others in a third world country. Truly an unforgettable experience and your life will be changed when you come back!
