My Nonprofit Reviews
Review for Behind The Book Inc, New York, NY, USA
Behind the Book does amazing work. It puts authors into 100 classrooms in underserved schools in NYC. We work with teachers to design individualized programs that fit the personality and needs of each classroom. The careful selection of an author for a particular class, and the careful preparation of the students for the author visit are the keys to our success and impact.
Behind the Book and the teacher design a schedule that suits the needs of all involved. The students all read the book and a program is developed that includes preparing the students for the visit as well as a written assignment that is edited and sent to Behind the Book for publication on the website.
I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
I have visited numerous classrooms and seen the excitement of the children (grades K-12) when they meet and work with the author of the book they have just read. Each student receives a copy of the author's book, and for many it is the first book they have ever owned. Over the course of several visits by the author, the children write their own books (or in some cases start their school's first newspaper). I have never seen students as engaged as these. The excitement is palpable.
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
Expand it's programs to reach more schools, more children and teens.
Review for Jewish Communal Fund, New York, NY, USA
I have had nothing but the very best experience with JCF. They are extremely user-friendly and making charity giving easy and trouble-free. I would (and do) recommend them without qualification!!!
What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...
...that it is extremely easy to use, the people with whom I have had communications have been helpful and friendly and I have not had one single issue or less-than-excellent experience with JCF
Ways to make it better...
I honestly have had no bad or even "mediocre" experiences with this organization.
