Review for Healing4Heroes™ Inc, Peachtree City, GA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I have been a volunteer with Healing 4 Heroes since before Piper Hill launched this great organization. She had the passion, knowledge and personal experience to know the value of a service dog matched to the needs of a veteran coping with PTSD or Traumatic Brain Injury or just about any damage war could inflict. Her tight budget left very little room for a marketing plan. I offered my marketing skills long distance. I can proudly say I have never seen anyone as multi-faceted as Piper. She made things happen on a shoestring budget, tireless networking, and word of mouth. Her love of dogs and commitment to rescue animals provides an avenue to help both human and canine clients, essentially saving two lives. Thirteen years later, H4H is going strong, now helping people with different disabilities train a dog to their specific needs...and she still does it on a shoestring.

Review for Healing4Heroes™ Inc, Peachtree City, GA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

Healing 4 Heroes is exactly the kind of grass roots effort that appeals to me. Their mission is simple. Use their experience, skills and passion to provide trained service dogs for Veterans suffering PTSD, Traumatic Brain Injury and other unseen wounds of war at no charge to the Veteran. Their method is to rescue shelter dogs for this purpose as often as possible. The Veterans Administration no longer funds service dogs, but the need increases and the list of applicants grows.

These service dogs help their Veteran by calming them during a panic attack, reminding them to eat or take their meds, urging them to get up, move around, protecting them from threatening situations, uplifting them during a fugue. The dogs can be trained to respond to seizures. They can also be trained to help with the Veteran's physical limitations.

Healing 4 Heroes is a 501 (c) 3 charity and relies on donations and grants for their funding. They will never charge a recipient for the dog. Based inAtlanta, GA, Healing 4 Heroes is a national organization. They go where the training is needed, using only certified psychiatric dog trainers.
