Review for Community Assistance Network Inc, Baltimore, MD, USA

Rating: 1 stars

Having been a recent, long-term client at CAN's Westside Men's Shelter (WSS)--for nearly five (5) years--I can testify on behalf of the preceeding contributor. The theft of donations intended for clients has been an on-going problem at WSS. I stood by helplessly (I thought) as staff, including top supervisors, gleefully took whatever they wanted--food, cases of sodas, clothing, gift_bags loaded with toiletries, cold weather gear, backpacks stuffed with clothes and other items desperately needed by their homeless clients, some whose only belo.ngings were the raggedy garments on their backs.

But I was wrong about being helpless. I got the phone numbers of CAN's top brass, as well as for the Baltimore County big shot who controlled the shelter's funding. After passing the info along, we lit a fire under the butts of said big shots. Several months later, the manager, assisstant manager, and a few employees were summarily fired for theft, misuse of CAN vehicles (used to ferry alcoholic staff and volunteers to their favorite saloon.

Sadly, not long afterward, the new management team started committing the same (criminal?) offenses.

And the absolutely disgusting reality is, these salaried employees are stealing from the truly needy--homeless men who were depending on CAN to help them get back on their feet.

This is truly sad, indeed.

LESTER,
West Baltimore

I searched the internet and located the phone numbers and addresses of the top managers at CAN, as well as the Baltimore County supervisor in the office of Community Development
