Review for Mayyim Hayyim Living Waters Community Mikveh and Education, Newton, MA, USA
Mayyim Hayyim is one of the most innovative Jewish organizations in the world. It has successfully taken the ritual of mikveh and made it relevant to the 21st century. This miraculous transformation has been done within the parameters of Jewish law, making it a destination for all Jews. There is truly nothing else like Mayyim Hayyim in the Jewish world. Not only does it enable women to fulfill the family purity laws in a beautiful, safe environment, it is also a place where men and women come to renew themselves spiritually and to heal from physical and emotional upheaval in their lives. The upheaval can range from finishing a course of chemotherapy, completing 11 months of Kaddish or healing from a traumatic relationship. Mayyim Hayyim is truly of service to the entire spectrum of the Jewish community.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
my own personal healing. It has also enriched my life in myriad ways including expanding my Jewish education and learning about resources in the community.
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
Expand staff so that everyone would be freer to pursue their assigned tasks. Everyone generously helps each other. But there are some very fine projects that could get off the ground if more staff could be comfortably hired.
What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...
Discovering the power of the mikveh for 21st century. Learning to write grants.
The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...
passionate, dedicated, knowledgeable and supportive.
If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...
particularly effect away Jewish youth view the mikveh and consequently all Jewish rituals. They could apply the model of the relevance of ancient rituals in the 21st century. Mayyim Hayyim could also strength partnerships among various organizations.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...
finances. MH is bursting with creativity. It has a beautiful mikveh--a gift--available to all Jews. My hope is that pursuing grants and fundraising will not overshadow MH's innovative and vital work.
One thing I'd also say is that...
Mayyim Hayyim's survival is crucial to the Jewish community and to future generations.
