My Nonprofit Reviews

Review for RedRover, Sacramento, CA, USA
I find it amazing that almost all of the reviews are 5 star and awe inspiring. I wrote them last year in desperate need to help save a stray cat's life. The cat had a large slice across his chest. We had no income and it had started to rot his chest muscle. They refused to help me and the cat died as a result. I no longer support them.

Thank you for caring about the cat you rescued and trying to save him. It takes a kind person to do what you did for him, and we are very saddened to learn that he did not survive. Over the last several years, the number of applications to the program has more than doubled while the available funding has not grown. You're absolutely right -- having to say "no" to situations like yours is heartbreaking, and we want to do better. The reality is that the need exceeds the available funding. We are working hard to increase funding to the program so that we can help more pets in need. RedRover receives more than 3,000 applications each year to the RedRover Relief grant program. Though our extremely limited funding prevents us from giving a grant to everyone, every application receives an individual review to assess if the situation qualifies (program guidelines are available at www.redrover.org/grants), as well as numerous fundraising resources and referrals. We are proud of providing so many life-saving grants and resources through the RedRover Relief program, and saving many more animal lives and preventing animal cruelty through our other programs. We look forward to continuing to grow and help even more animals in the future.
