Review for Mylestone Equine Rescue a New Jersey Non-Profit Corporation, Phillipsburg, NJ, USA
I started volunteering at Mylestone (MER) after attending an Open House. I was taken by all the work that goes into taking care of horses. I didn't have any experience handling horses, but the other volunteers along with Bruce and Susankelly Thompson made it fun to learn. I love spending days mucking, feeding and pampering these horses that have had neglected and abusive pasts. Then I started attending events to get our message out to the public. Volunteering for events is a rewarding thing to do because you get to talk about the horses and raise money at the same time. After a time, I was asked to join the BoD and now as a Board member am helping to run MER by volunteering more time on the clerical side. We are always looking for new/more volunteers because many more people are having to give up their horses for financial reasons. You can also sponsor a horse and monthly you receive a letter telling you what has been going on that month along with a picture of your horse. I recommend volunteering at MER. Hope to see you there soon.
