Review for Michael G Reagan Portrait Foundation, Edmonds, WA, USA
This organization provides free custom portraits of Fallen Heroes in the war in Iraq and Afghanistan to their families based on a request from the family. The portraits are drawn by internationally acclaimed portrait artist Michael Reagan. Michael himself is a combat veteran from Vietnam who went on to become a very successful artist. The organization takes care of all the costs and even provides a coupon for free framing from AC Moore. My understanding is that there are no paid members of the organization.
I received a portrait of my son, Marine Lance Corporal Eric W. Herzberg from Michael. It was absolutely beautiful and seemed to have captured some of Eric's soul. There was something spiritual about the experience as I feel that my son had a message for me through his portrait. I know I'm not crazy because I understand many family's have also experienced the same thing.
Michael has drawn over 3,400 portraits now - all free of charge. He has drawn portraits for Fallen hero families in the UK and Canada as well. The organization has recently also provided this same gift to families impacted by recent tragedies here at home like the Newtown, CT shootings, the Arizona hotshot firefighters and the shootings at the Washington Navy Yard.
This is a top notch foundation, providing an amazing and unique service to families who are suffering. I know that receiving the portrait of Eric helped me tremendously in handling my grief in a positive way and Eric's portrait is my most prized possession. Thank you Michael and your foundation.

Review for Travis Manion Foundation, Doylestown, PA, USA
The Travis Manion Foundation generously provided a grant to me in honor of my fallen hero son, Marine Lance Corporal Eric Herzberg. I have used the grant to participate in the Foundation's Character Does Matter program, to create service opportunities for the students in the program and then award scholarships to those who demonstrate exceptional leadership. My partnership with the Travis Manion Foundation has been extremely rewarding. They are compassionate, professional and knowlegable people - a great organization!

Review for Travis Manion Foundation, Doylestown, PA, USA
My relationship with the Travis Manion Foundation started when I received a challnge grant to honor my son, Marine LCPL Eric W. Herzberg. Eric gave his life for our country in October of 2006 in Al Anbar, Iraq. I had the opportunity to share in presenting the Charatcer Does Matter Program at Severna Park High Scool in Maryland where Eric graduated in 2005. Students were encouraged to participate in two service opportunities after the presentation - one by building homes as part of Habitat for Humanity and the other to write biographies for Fallen Heroes for posting on their memorial page as part of the Fallen Heroes Portrait Project (www.fallenheroesproject.org). The grant was used to award three $1,500 scholarships to students who participated in the service projects and demonstrated leadership qualities.
I am very impressed with the Travis Manion organization. The people they have working for them are very dedicated and friendly, and they believe in their mission. I am looking forward to helping with future programs with the Foundation as a way of carrying on Eric's and Travis legacy of selfless service.
