My Nonprofit Reviews

Michele M
Review for Stanford Settlement, Inc., Sacramento, CA, USA
I first learned about Stanford Settlement when my daughter worked for its Children’s Program. Stories told revealed many of the kids faced difficult circumstances in their lives and it was obvious Stanford was their safe haven. This was not a place just to “hang out”, but also a place that gave kids a sense of belonging and hope for their future. The program includes planned activities that are fun, but also teach social skills, self-confidence, and decision-making. When a child is facing specific social or academic difficulties, Stanford’s professional staff connects with the kids’ school and parents or guardians to help resolve those issues.
Children ought to have hope and a chance to succeed in life, and Stanford provides that to kids who otherwise might have no encouragement, support, or direction. Because kids mean so much to me and I believe in what Stanford does, I support Stanford by attending its events, and now serve on its Board. But Stanford does even more; it offers a variety of programs and services to the entire family, including teens through its Teen Center program and seniors through its Senior Center program! For over 75 years Stanford’s professional, caring and dedicated staff have been a guiding light to many citizens of our community.
If you want to make a difference in the lives of others by supporting this worthwhile organization, I hope you will take the time to learn more about Stanford Settlement – you could not be disappointed. Michele Mercado
